M.C. Escher
M.C. Escher is the Dutch graphic artist who became world famous for his interest in the unusual, which he brought to life in his drawings. All his life, Escher was fascinated by repetition, as a kind of continuity in eternity.
With immense enthusiasm, he discovered regular tessellation in his so-called symmetry prints. Regular tessellation refers to a print that is completely filled with similarly shaped figures that do not overlap anywhere. Escher drew inspiration for this from Moorish works of art. In the Moorish artworks, the figures were abstract, but with Escher they represent recognizable things (usually animals such as reptiles, fish & birds). Especially these artworks can be seen in the designs of the ties, bows & chokers of the We Love Ties Collection.
