Collection featuring vegan and recycled suspenders and bow ties

Sir Redman suspenders and bow ties are for everyone who wants to make a statement from fashion. Who dare to show themselves, with a sense of style and an eye for quality. This also applies to the men and women who choose a durable Aarden bespoke suit. "When people choose a wedding suit, they often think of a 3-piece suit, a tailored suit with a vest. To emphasize the festivity of a wedding, we also regularly choose suspenders, a bow tie or both. Since this year we have the collection of Sir Redman in our store in Arnhem, which allows us to guide our future grooms even better. From there the idea was born to also implement our sustainable philosophy in suspenders and bow ties," says Erik Toenhake of Aarden.

Apple leather and recycled fabrics

"The collaboration with Erik is a logical new step. As a tailor of tailored suits made from vegan and recycled fabrics, he came up with the question of whether we could make suspenders from these special fabrics. We answered this question wholeheartedly with 'Yes,'" says Nathalie Humbert of Sir Redman. To make the use of materials more sustainable, we chose the recycled fabric collection of Enschede Textile City, with which Aarden (collaborates). In addition, apple leather was used for the entire collection instead of traditional leather from animal hides. Apple leather is sturdy, circular and animal-friendly, making it extremely suitable for making suspender loops. The apple leather is made from the residual waste from apple growing. Finally, Aarden and Sir Redman have chosen two lines, "sustainable" and "sustainable vegan," with the latter series having no animal material in the fabrics.

Growing demand for circular fashion items

"Sir Redman makes its suspenders entirely by hand in-house in Budel, Brabant. This fits perfectly with our values of shorter distance and fair working conditions. Their authentic style stems from passion, craftsmanship and more than 50 years of experience," says Erik, who himself has been a pioneer in sustainable tailoring since 2012.

The cooperation partners see a growing demand for circular fashion items: "The collaboration went like clockwork, full of enthusiasm and trust, and we are proud that this has allowed us to take the next step in the field of accessories as well. The circular economy is increasingly alive. The need to contribute to this is growing; not only among designers and producers, but also among consumers. We therefore see the production of responsible clothing and accessories that do not increase waste as a necessity."
